Meaning ‘stick or twig tea’ in Japanese, Kukicha is a delicious consequence of Sencha production. Better known in its green form, Kukicha consists of the twigs and stems from plants that are harvested late in the season, after the tea leaves have been plucked. Toasted Kukicha or Hoji Bocha is aged and roasted to give it a smooth, sweet and nutty flavor that offers a lower level of caffeine than most other teas.
Slightly sweet and woody, very smooth. Re-steeps well. Best enjoyed hot.
